My Journey through watercolor has transformed how I see the world.
As a self-taught artist, I believe that I own all the great watercolor books written. The artists who wrote them have been my teachers and secret mentors as I have incorporated their techniques in my own pieces. For me , watercolor has endless possibilities in creating textures, light values and color intensities.
Choosing a subject is never difficult. I see paintings everyday all around me. I no longer look at the world without stimulating my senses in special ways. Teenagers with attitude, paths that lead to choices, light changing the mood- they all have one thing in common: their ability to inspire a strong emotional reaction.
My artistic journey started in high school when I started working with clay and discovered the joy of self expression. As my artistic self discovery continued I realized that you don’t just draw a nose, a mouth and some eyes, but all the spaces between and how they relate to each other. This started my serious passion for watercolor painting and has become a part of my personal path in life. This contentment grows in myself as I find great satisfaction in my artwork.
I have to say that there are more paintings stored in my head than I will ever have time to paint and that is as it should be. The never ending creativity is what drives me every day.
